Happy Holidays, Everyone!
If you are living somewhere in the frozen tundra, you know that winter came in like a lion and right now, baby, it’s cold outside! If you’re are enjoying warmer temperatures in a more mild climate, say hello to the sun for me!
Cold and dreary winter days almost always motivate me to find happy ways to create warmth and creativity inside. Since I’m a teacher, I have a few days during winter break to relax and catch up on things I have been too busy to accomplish the past few weeks. So, today as I organized my closet, I put together a few “new” teacher outfits.
My clothing budget is not huge, and I am always looking for different ways to style my clothing, particularly my tops, so that my wardrobe feels fresh and fun. I am also on my feet all day, and want to be comfortable, but also cute. 🙂
Today, I focused on pairing one specific t-shirt with different bottoms, layers, and accessories to make three different teacher outfits that I can wear to work.
Recently, I have really been absolutely loving graphic tees. Last month, I purchased two awesome shirts from Scarlet & Gold.
This “OH HAPPY DAY” tee,
and this “BIND MY WANDERING HEART TO THEE” tee.
You guys, if you have not yet visited their shop, it’s amazing. This is not a sponsored post, I just LOVE their products!
I work in a public school, so I unfortunately can’t wear the cute gray tee to work, but I can definitely wear the blue one. Today, I spent a few minutes putting together three teacher outfits using different layering pieces that I already had in my closet.
I was feeling the cool electricity of the t-shirt and wanted to add another pop of color to compliment the blue for the first outfit.
So, for teacher outfit #1, I paired the tee with a gray and cream marled cardigan (about six-years-old from Banana Republic), a cute statement necklace I bought about a year ago (also Banana Republic), a cute dark orange belt (older, from the GAP), and a pair of jeans (Banana Republic).
(Note: The jeans are distressed, so I wouldn’t wear these particular jeans to work. I was doing laundry, so the dark indigo skinnies that I would wear to school were in the Maytag, and these were clean and available. However, I would definitely wear the distressed jeans with the rest of the outfit on a weekend, just not in the classroom. 🙂 )
For teacher outfit #2, I wanted to keep the tone of the outfit colorful and bright, but also comfortable and dressy casual, so I chose to pair the tee with a mustard cardigan (about four-years-old from New York & Co.), black pants (any dressier type will work), and a silver statement necklace (from Loft, a few years ago).
For teacher outfit #3, I wanted to dress up the vibe just a little bit. So, I grabbed a blazer (older, from The Limited) and some boot-cut jeans (recent Vera Wang from Kohl’s) to create a dressy-casual look. I also grabbed my favorite gold owl necklace (older, Lauren Conrad from Kohl’s) and a new pair of statement earrings (Bella & Jack) that I found at Homegoods while Christmas shopping a few days ago.
Which teacher outfit is your favorite? I think I’m crushing most on the last one, although teacher outfit #1 is a close second. I love the pops of red and orange with the blue.
My hope is that you will feel inspired to create your own unique outfits, rotating just one piece like this graphic tee, with layers and accessories you already own!
